Hi Champs,

customer need to migrate an existing Hercules firmware to CM.

CM has total memory of 96KB (64+16+16), in HERCULES they now need 94K. So not much room for adding features!

In CM memory map are additional memories, which probably can be useds as gen purpose RAM ?

EtherCAT RAM (direct access)(3)                      8k x 16

CM to CPUx MSGRAM0               1k x 16

CM to CPUx MSGRAM1               1k x 16

CPUx to CM MSGRAM0               1k x 16

CPUx to CM MSGRAM1               1k x 16

USB RAM(3)             2k x 16

(3) Only on the CPU1 subsystem.

 

Q: Can these regions be used as GP RAM (no Ethercat needed!)?

    Hi,

    EtherCAT RAM direct access can be used if you are not planning to use the EtherCAT. Other RAMs are have specific purpose and are tightly coupled with the IPs hence not recommended to be used for general purpose.
