SM320F28335-HT: McBSP clock and frame sync direction

Hi There

In my application we used some reference code to create a McBSP interface to connect to an ADC (ADS1278), This is all now working, but I've just noticed we're using the F28335 MCLKRA and MFSRA pins (ie the receive pins on the master).

app note SPRUG80A page 19 has the same description for both the transmit and revive clocks "(Supplying or reflecting the receive clock; supplying the input clock of the sample rate generator)"

If they can be both transmit and receive i'm unsure on why they have different labels?

could you confirm there are no issues in using the McBSP clock and frame sync receive pins as a mater transmit?

I believe the answer is no issue. However, I am not as familiar with this as others.

The block diagram in the McBSP users guide SPRUFB7B shows the logic for selection of MCLKX and MCLKR, and they both have same logical structure.

I am going to request someone from the C2000 team to confirm this and reply back here.

Could you post the wiring diagram between the 28x device and ADS1278? Please indicate the direction of signals using arrows.

The direction of FSR and MCLKR pins are configurable. So, the configuration where the McBSP generates the Framesync & clock through these pins is valid.
