TMS320F280041C: F28004x power consumption

Part Number: TMS320F280041C

Hi, team

We are using the control card of F280049C for power supply, its power consumption without any PWM (driving loss) is nearly 0.5W.

When I look up F28004x datasheet, it looks F28004x total power consume is nearly 0.3~0.4W, the other in control card  may not consume much power.

Do you think, am I right for the power consumption of F28004x, any exactly data?

Do we have any method can shut off some unused peripheral, such as CLA, GPIO, ADC, PLL, to reduce the power consumption?

  • Hi,

Looks like control card is using Internal Vreg, and if you see the datasheet spec for F28004x total maximum power consumption is ~472mW (~0.5W what you are seeing). Also, are you docking the control card on the base board? There will  be some current consumption due to the components on the board.

You can minimize power consumption to the peripheral by not enabling the clock going into it. Also you can disable PLL, please refer to Technical Reference Manual on more details regarding disabling the clocks to peripheral and also PLL.

    Regards,
