TMS320F28335: UART break detection BRKDT happening on 9 bits instead of 10

Part Number: TMS320F28335

HI everybody ,

I m on F28335  , uart set to be 115200 , and needing   BRKDT   to happen after 10bits  ( The 10bits expectation is taken From sprufz5a.pdf   section SCI  interrupt 1.2.8 section ) .

now I measured with scope and found happening after 9  : please where am I wrong ?

what can I test ?   do you have a working example with 10 or even mroe for  BRKDT ?

thank you

bets regards

Carlo

  • Carlo,

What is the F28335 device communicating with?

Can you include some screenshots showing this issue occurring?

Can you ask the customer to characterize exactly how many bit times will cause the BRKDT to be set? I've done this previously using a function generator.

I ask the previous question because I've seen a similar issues that was caused by either input clock or bit time error. I have attached a post for reference, however I can't say if this issue would have the same sensitivity to input clock or input signal error.

    Regards,
    Cody

  • Hi Cody ,

I shared code inizialization offline  and screenshots :  we can see BRKDT happening on 9 bits .

could you kindly share a "tested working code "  , happening on 10 bits  so we can cross check  on our machine ?

    thank you

  • Carlo,

We were able to replicate the problem and this issue has been sent to the design team.  Therefore, I am closing this thread.
