TMS320F28379S: BiSS library

Expert 1570 points
Part Number: TMS320F28379S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-1010, CONTROLSUITE, BOOSTXL-POSMGR

Hi,

I was wondering if the BiSS library (as in TIDM-1010) can be used on the 28379S device?

any modifications needed?

We're doing PMSM FOC application and there's a high demanding need for synchronization with the ADC interrupt.

Any project example for this with BiSS encoder interface?

thanks a lot!

  • You can find a BiSS example in controlSUITE under

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\BOOSTXL_POSMGR

It appears to be written for use with the BOOSTXL-POSMGR and the F28379D LaunchPad, so if you're using different hardware, you'll likely need to make some changes related to those differences. The F28379S should be capable of using the same BiSS library though.

  • Hi,

Yes it's designed and tested for BOOSTXL-POSMGR and the F28379D LaunchPad only.
If you are using the same package of F28379S it should work as expected, with no changes.

  • Thanks for the replies.

we are looking for certain answer ("should" is not enough for us, sorry).

Can someone from TI please confirm that the BiSS library is for sure compatible with the 28379S ?

since there's no kit to test the 28379S we need to know for sure.

    Thanks!!

  • Hi,

As I said earlier, if you are using the same package and pinout - the library should work as is.
If you can give me the exact part number, I can try to obtain the part and test the library on that exact same part.

  • Hi Subrahmanya

    the exact P/N is TMS320F28379SPTPS

thanks a lot and looking forward your confirmation.

    thanks!

  • Hi,

I'll have to procure this part number and do tests. This may take up to 10 days.
I'll close the thread for now and post an update once receive the part and complete test.

  • Hi,

I've procured the device and checked that the library is basically functional on the part number you requested.
I do see some random crc fails, which i suspect is due to the blue wires I had to do on my set up to connect to this device.
We are also releasing the tool to configure CLB by end of this month which will allow you to create you own implementation for BiSS-C or any other interface.
