Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1281

I am needing to do FFT of audio signal to get magnitude of 1Hz bins over 100Hz BW.  C2000 delfino and ADS1281 looks like a way to accomplish this if use 1KHz sample rate and 1024 point FFT.  Is this a use for this parts?

    2833x parts are well within this capability and if you really need this kind of resolution are well suited because of they have both fixed and floating point capability. They are also relatively easy to program.

    On the other hand, if you don't really need the resolution and this is a low cost high volume application, there may be alternatives using filtering or oversampling and the less expensive piccolo parts. If you really need anything near 24 bit resolution then analog issues, especially noise, are likely to be the dominant factors in your design.

    Thank you for your responses.  I am needing the the high resolution of the 24 bit converter, what analog issues are the likely to cause problems?

    Grounds, coupling through high impedances, coupling between digital and analog returns, etc.

    Study the schematics and layout for the EVM's. You'll probably want to stick with differential inputs if possible and a high performance low noise buffer amp like that on the EVM.
