TMS320F28069: G3 Development Package Download

Part Number: TMS320F28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, AFE031, LAUNCHXL-F28379D, LAUNCHXL-F28069M, BOOSTXL-AFE031

Hi,

I have been searching online for the G3 development package download and every link that I have analyzed says to download it from *www.ti.com/.../tmdsplckit-v3*.  My issue is that this link leads to nowhere and the download cannot be found. If anyone can link me to this package that would be great!

Thanks

  • Jake,

About 2 years back we stopped developing new packages for the G3 PLC(eMETER) platform.  At that time we also placed the FW packages behind a secure SW request link so that we could explain the above before customers got too far in any new developement.  All HW kits were also removed from TI.com for the same reason.

We still have these packages available for those customers who had already developed solns and needed access.  We've tried to cleanse as much of TI.com as possible, but I believe that Google is still picking up some breadcrumbs from older versions.

With that said we have released a open source/generic PLC based comms module that uses a LaunchPad and BoosterPack to implement the SunSpec protocol out of the box.  The nice thing about this package is that you can tailor it to your needs as well as keep access to the other unused MIPs/periperhals on the C2000.

The Booster Pack is here:  http://www.ti.com/tool/BOOSTXL-AFE031-DF1

  • Hi Matt,

If updates to the TMS320C2000 code libraries are no longer supported, what is your suggestion for a point to point continuous data communications across power lines? Is the attached booster board configurable on the kit that I already have on hand? Any help in continuing my development research would be wonderful!

    Thanks,

    Jake

  • Jake,

If you already have the previous G3 PLC Kit then I can provide access to the legacy FW packages so you can continue your development.  I beleive I saw your application through the export compliance team as well.  I will follow up tommorow with those requests to make sure they align with the above kit you've mentioned.

With regards to the newer kits I mentioned, these are not related to the older eMETER based PLC kits, but are open source based.  The older eMETER based FW packages are created as SDKs/libraries and as such are not able to be modified.

I'd recommend downloading the latest copy of C2000Ware, you can look at look at the source to see if it aligns to what you are trying to accomplish.

    Best,

    Matthew

  • Hi Matt,

Those legacy packages would be excellent if you could! I did put in a software request because i wanted to guarantee that I had the latest version of the software. I have looked into CS2000Ware, but do not see examples for configuring a point to point/point to multipoint example receiver and transmitter code. If this is already available on CS2000Ware, please let me know what path/example they are under!

    Jake

  • Jake,

I will contact you via the chat function with the request links in a moment.

Path for the new HW based examples are here:

    App note is here http://www.ti.com/lit/sprac94

  • Matt,

Are those devices supported on my chip, my TMS320C2000 kit came with the F28069 control card installed so wouldnt I want to be using a project from device_support\f2806x\?

Thank you also for throwing in the app note!

    Jake

  • Jake,

I should have been more clear in my last response, the file paths and app note are related to the newer open source PLC example we have on TI.com.  These are un-related to the eMETER based PLC pacakges that work on your HW.

Theortically it would be possible to buy a LAUNCHXL-F28069M and use the booster pack I mention with the newer FW; but it would take some code editing.  If you were interested in the newer approach I would just buy the LAUNCHXL-F28379D($32.79) and the BOOSTXL-AFE031($49.00) I mentioned previously.

  • I have ported the code of boostxl_afe031 from F28379 to SOMPLC-F28PLC83 based product. My local governments require that the codes of these meter products must be code controllable and I'm looking for a open source based solution. We have do some test on the boostxl_afe031 and manage to run it on SOMPLC-F28PLC83. But I have to say its MAC protocol is too simple to support a meter application. Here  is some test program we have made and I hope it will help you in some way.

I'm still searching for open source based solution for 28069 & AFE031, maybe we can share information with wach other.

  • Dear Mr.Matthew,

I saw your answer under this thread. May I ask you some questions privately?

I have made a friend request.

  • Hey Haizhu,

I currently have not found the open source solution that I am looking for for those parts. It has been a struggle trying to secure the software for my development kit /:

  • Hi Jake,

My situation is even worse than you. Our products were limited in bidding and our main business was affected.

We are thinking of forming a team to develop ourselves, but lacking of some real reference code to run OFDM in AFE031. I'm trying to ask Mr.Matthew for help.

  • Jake/Haizhu,

As we are handling off-forum, I'm going to mark this as TI Thinks Resolved.  Please feel to reply back to the thread if you are having issues that are not getting the attention needed.

For the community referencing this thread, any requests for PLC FW packages that were previously avaialble to download freely; TI has placed all these behind a secure SW server that requires granted access permission before the pacakges can be downloaded.

Any questions are welcome to be posted with a new thread here in the E2E and it will get a response from TI.

    Best,

    Matthew
