I have an query regarding USB 2.0 (MAC +PHY) used in TMS320F28379D.

How is it different from normal USB 2.0 ?

What is the MAX communication speed which can be achieved in USB 2.0 (MAC +PHY)?

Does Launchpad for TMS320F28379D has access to USB 2.0 (MAC +PHY)?

F2837x USB supports Full Speed. The max throughput it 12 Mbps. However, with a Windows host PC we have only been able to achieve 7-8 Mbps. The Windows OS is the bottleneck because it does not request DATA IN packets fast enough.

The launchpad has USB and PHY since these are in the silicon device. However, there is no USB connector connecting to GPIO pins 42/43 which are the USB pins. You will have to connect to these yourself for USB communication.

Hey Sal,

Thank you for replying.

USB 2.0 (MAC +PHY) has capability for 480 Mbps, so why does full speed converge to 12 Mbps?

You can find this information widely available on the internet.

High Speed is 480 Mbps. Full Speed is 12 Mbps.

Our devices only support Low Speed and Full Speed. They do not support High Speed.

I am interested in the F28379 USB connection.

In the schematic above, the GPIO42 / 43 is already connected. Should I disconnect it and connect it directly to USB?

Can you recommend a program to test USB communication?

I am not sure what you mean by it is already connected.

To test USB communication you can use the USB examples in C2000Ware. I suggest using dev_serial example which communicates as a serial CDC device to a host.
