CCS/TMS320F28379D: Digital GPIO read using DMA

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use DMA to read GPIO pins. The trigger source to DMA is going to be a timer. Is it possible to read GPIO by DMA?

If it's possible then a reference would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The DMA does not have access to the GPIO memory mapped registers. For more details on the the memories and register set DMA has access to, please refer to the DMA chapter in the TRM

Hi,

I assume you're looking to use DMA to keep the bandwidth of the CPU core open for other uses.

If you have an unused CLA, an alternate option may be to use the CLA as a sort of smart DMA (which does have access to the GPIO). This may or may not be worthwhile in your system. The CLA option is obviously more attractive if there's additional manipulation that needs to be done on the GPIO result register to turn it into a form that's usable in your system.
