ADC Interfacing to TMS320C28XXX

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, ADS1281

I am thinking how to interface the ADC to a C28XXX MCU.  I have used the F28335 in the online workshop materials to use with ADC but it connects to DMA.  A online video states that the C28XXX uses different method.  Can you inform me to how this is done.

Also I am not positive which MCU would be better use in my application.  Application is like sonar capturing 3 to 4 1KHz ADC streams and measuring spectral content over 100Hz BW with 1Hz bins.

Thank You

The C28x CPU can read the result registers just like any other memory location.  There are examples in controlSUITE (www.ti.com/controlsuite) under the device_support directory (C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x):

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x\<version>\DSP2833x_examples_ccsv4\adc_seq_ovd_test

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x\<version>\DSP2833x_examples_ccsv4\adc_seqmode_test

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x\<version>\DSP2833x_examples_ccsv4\adc_soc

  • Thanks you for the information but it seems that this is not pertinent to attaching external ADC to a C28346.  Application will use multiple external 24b ADC.  ADC are accessed through serial communications like ADS1281.
