Hi Guys,
I was at the Website today and saw that the status of the processor TMS320LF2407A has been changed.
It has changed from "NRND" (not recommended for new designs) to "active".
What is the meaning behind that?
How long will the processor remain on the market, as the processor has been on the market for almost twenty years.
Is there a time estimate of how long it will be available?
Thanks and regards
Benjamin Siegel
Benjamin,
Previously this status was set by each business and in C2000 we were using NRND to communicate that customers should not start new designs with this product, that there are newer products which offer better value and will be in production for a longer time.
Just recently TI decided to take a more formal, corporate wide approach to this status. If we can sell it / ship it, it will be ACTIVE. It is only when we decide to stop shipping a product that we will implement NRND and start communications to our distributors (who in turn are to communicate to our mutual customers).
