how can i change the values of resisters during runtime from computer ? for example there is a program for pwm so i want to change the frequency value at runtime... i had basic idea of emulation but don't know how to do it

Adnan,

You can change the values in the registers while the MCU is running with Code Composer Studio (CCS) using real-time emulation mode. Please see the F28379D workshop at:

In lab exercise 6 you will find the directions for using real-time emulation mode starting with step 16. Then in lab exercise 7 you will find the optional exercise where the PWM waveform is being modulated while the MCU is running by changing the values in the registers. This is exactly what you want to do.

hello sir ..I followed all the steps for using real time emulation … but during real time emulation when I am changing values in the expression window it does not effect the registors on the mcu I am observing it on the ossciliscope as well as in the watch window...… any idea what is the problem I am kind of stuck here please reply

Adnan,

Make sure that you "Enable Continuous Refresh" in the Expression window. Then change the value and 'enter'. You can also run real-time emulation mode using the CCS icons. For details, see lab 6 (pages 6-29 to 6-30) in the F28004x workshop (this workshop uses a more up-to-date version of CCS):
