That is correct, should be sqrt(3) to calculate the peak phase voltage.

You might be right, but I have always used sq. rt. 2. .for rectified AC to DC.

I only ever use sq. rt. 3 for pk to pk on a delta wired motor. 

So unless the power supply is wired delta, nothing would get to sq.rt. of 3.

You divide by SQRT(2) when you want to go from peak AC voltage to RMS voltage. Since RMS voltage is usually what is specified when we talk about AC, and the rectified voltage in an AC to DC conversion should be close to the peak voltage of the AC wave then you multiply the RMS value by SQRT(2) to get the DC bus value.

This is a little different. In a Y-connected circuit the line-to-line voltage is equal to SQRT(3)*PHASE_VOLTAGE. For the three-phase inverter in the motor drive the peak AC voltage is the DC bus voltage (i.e. line-to-line) so in order to get the phase peak voltage you divide the DC voltage by SQRT(3).
