TMS320F28379D: EMIF - SRAM interface memory size, 2x 1Mx16b workaround

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

I understand the TMS320F28379D datasheet is very specific about the sizes of the SRAM interface (section 6.3.3). My customer however needs to address two 1Mx16b SRAM's (CY62167EV30) - is that possible at all? Can we use an independent GPIO for an extra chip-select?

Thank you!

  • Lenio,

Is SDRAM not an option?  Digikey has 16Mx16 SDRAMs that are cheaper than a single 1Mx16 CY62167EV30...

They can certainly implement manual paging with GPIO pins, but it adds overhead.

If they can limit the data accesses to 32b-only, they can use EM1 CS2 in its native form for 2Mx16.
