TMDSCNCD28379D: R1.3: The schottky diode D2 necessity

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE,

Hello,
Please open a schematic in the c2000ware:
C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_2_00_00_03\boards\controlCARDs\TMDSCNCD28379D\R1_3\F2837x_180controlCARD_R1_3_SCH_02Oct2015.pdf .

The revision history on the cover page tells:
>>
Added an schottky diode between VDD_1V2 and VDD_3V3 to help ensure that VDD_3V3 is > VDD_1V2
<<

Then, could you please advise if the diode, D2, is mandatory or 'nice to have' ?

I read the DS abs max ratings and errata but no findings about the necessity or power-up sequence info.
