Sensor PMSM for TMDS1MTRPFCKIT

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, DRV8312

Hello,

1. In the overview of the Motor-Control Software http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/gencontent.tsp?contentId=67194&DCMP=mcu_controlsuite&HQS=Other+OT+c2000dmc , for the TMDS1MTRPFCKIT is a sensored PMSM solution listed. But in the downloaded controlsuite I found only the sensorless approach - no sensored.

2. The control-suite-software for the TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT contains more solutions (BLDC, ACIM, PMSM, all  sensorless and sensored). Is for the TMDS1MTRPFCKIT the same complete sw-solution planed?

Regards  Wolfgang

  • The encoder necessary for a sensored solution on that low voltage 1 or 2 axis kit is expensive, so we didn't want to include in the kit for everyone.  You could cut/paste out the encoder count software from the high voltage kit if you had your own encoder.  Also, the DRV8402 chip on the low voltage kit doesn't allow for trapezoidal control.

We are looking at re-doing the kit with two of new DRV8312 chips, although you will see a new single motor DRV8312 kit out in ~March with a new Piccolo device that we will announce in January.  This will have a sensorless FOC and sensorless trapezoidal project, though we will show the steps for the sensored (build level 5) and document which encoder we are using.
