TMS320C206: Booting

Part Number: TMS320C206

Hi

I know I am essentially looking for info on an obsolete device, but the Flash version of this device does not appear on your Part number dropdown..

I am trying to support and reengineer some legacy product, but despite reading everything I can still find online about this device (lots of "we have encountered some resistance" screens), though it may be I am missing something so simple that the answer to my question is so simple that nobody felt the need to write it down!

I think I fully understand Flash programming of this device using the preinstalled Level 1 Serial Loader and windows application F206sldr.exe. But surely his process cannot overwrite the Serial Loader, because if it did it would not be possible to update the Flash code thereafter. How does the processor avoid running the serial loader again every time it is reset? Is it merely the presence of  connections to the serial interfaces which causes application code to be called instead of the bootloader?

Thanks

Dave

  • Dave,

Our support on this device is fairly limited. I am sorry but I don't have the answer to your question. Can you please do some search on E2E forum with keywords to see if you can find something useful?

    best regards,

    David Zhou
