TMS320F28388D: EEPROM for Ethercat nessesary?

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Hello everyone,

I hope some can help me.

Is the EEPROM connected over I2C nessesary for the Ethercat controller (ESC) of the TMS320F28388D?

Is there a possibility to store the data of the Slave Information Interface (SII) for the Ethercat Slave in an other EEPROM, that is not directly connected to the Ethercat Slave part of the chip? How does the ESC get the data for the SII?

When i connect an EEPROM over I2C directly to the ESC (Pins: ESC_I2C_SDA, ESC_I2C_SCL), can i use the I2C also to communicate with e.g. an Realtime Clock on the same bus?

Best regards

Jan
