Hello everyone,

My aim is to be able to send and receive data from SCI B or SCI C by programming on MATLAB.

I want to use SCI B or SCI C which I can connect with simple jumper cables from GPIO 18-19 and GPIO 56-139. But I could not manage to get any communication signal from these ports. Only SCI A works but it is connected to the USB. I want to use SCI B and SCI C.

As far as I understand I need to change MUX to be able to use SCI B or SCI D. I do not know how to do that ?

I am not sure if we needs a transceiver for voltage level for serial on the launchXL?

Or can he directly get the Rx and Tx working from the board header pins? TI folks are answer this better.

Hi Yusuf,

What are you using SCI B and C for? What is it being connected to and communicating with?

On the LAUNCHXL-F28379D SCI A goes from the C2000 MCU to the FTDI chip, which is a USB to UART IC.

Depending on what you're doing with SCI, I don't believe you need any additional transceivers for basic use.

Did you read the guide for this EVM? It includes an FTDI USB to UART IC. Are you communicating from the C2000 to the BQ76PL455ATPFCRQ1 through that IC?

I have read the datasheet. FTDI USB to UART is needed for connection to Computer. I can do that without any change with SCI_A. Beside of that connection I need to use serial communication (SCI_B or SCI_C or SCI_D) with BQ76PL455EVM. But could not use any SCI module and its related pins other than SCI_A.

In my system there will be three main components.

1. BQ76PL455EVM

2. TMS320F28379D LAUNCHPAD

3. LAPTOP (MATLAB)

Hi Yusuf,

Does no signal come out of the SCI-B and SCI-C pins, or is the problem it is not recognized by the BQ part as a valid serial signal?  

You might try just toggling the GPIOs directly (no SCI) to verify you are hooked up to the correct pins.  Then, enable SCI on those pins and scope the output to see if it looks like the expected serial comms packets with the expected baud rate.  Finally, try hooking it up to the BQ part to see if you can communicate.
