TMS320F28335: EMI issues - loose communication with CCS

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Hi,

1.  We use the TMS320F28335 Delfino experimental kit for Power electronic equipment (inverter) control.

Often at higher voltages and currents and sudden switching of loads/circuit breakers, we loose communication with the control card.

Any suggestions on mitigating this issue?

2. We observed that using USB 2.0 reduced the issue, so wanted to know if TI has a plan to upgrade the kit with a USB 3.0B port anytime soon?

Thanks,

Vijay

  • Vijay,

using a good quality shielded USB cable may help your issue. I would like to stress that in this application you need to be using an external emulator that is isolated. If you do not you could easily destroy your PC. This could even be the source of your issues.

If you already have an external emulator something like https://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/store/12134.html may be a good option for you.

To answer you second question no we do not plan on changing this hardware in any capacity. More directly I do not have a good explanation why using a USB2.0 would yield better results than using a USB3.0 port. Please note that embedded emulator is not USB3.0 compatible, so updating the design would not be helpful.
