TMS320F280049: Convert .out into .hex

Dear C2000 expert,

According to another post about converting .out to .hex(https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/243080?Convert-out-to-hex), I found that it uses MS order, which means in big-endian.

As I know, C2000 families are little-endian, why use big-endian option here?

hex2000.exe -i "Name.out" -o "HexName.hex" -order MS -romwidth 16

•--order=MS specifies big-endian ordering, in which the most significant part of the wide word occupies
the first of the consecutive locations.
• --order=LS specifies little-endian ordering, in which the least significant part of the wide word
occupies the first of the consecutive locations.

Refer to the assembly tools user's guide (http://www.ti.comm/lit/spru513).

There is a note in the section Specifying the Word order for Output Words which states that:the option --order only applies if the width value is less than 16. If this is not the case then the --order option is ignored and the default is used. The default output is little-endian. Thus in this case the option --order has no impact.

Can you please help me know what required options has to be added if converting ***.out to ***.hex?

Jack,

This depends on what type of hex file you want and how you are going to use it. Some examples are provided in the BOOT ROM chapter of the device's TRM. Refer to the sub-section Application Notes for Using the Bootloaders ---> The C2000 Hex Utility

In addition, refer to the assembly tools user's guide (http://www.ti.comm/lit/spru513) hex utility section.
