TMS320F28377S: Phase Shifted Full Bridge, Peak Current Mode Control, External Sync Signal

Part Number: TMS320F28377S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-1000

I've implemented Peak Current Mode Control for a phase shifted full bridge converter and need to add an external synchronization signal capability.  Are there any references, app note, etc. that might describe how this is done?  Thanks in advance for any insight.

  • Hi andrew,

    Could you please give me a little bit more information so that I can help? which device are you using? Why do you need the sync signal. What do you need this signal to do?

    Regards,

    Chen

  • I'm using a TMS320F28377S.  I need to syncrhonize my PWM frequency to an externally supplied signal.  So, my converter / 28377S PWM frequency should track with that of the externally supplied signal.

    I'm planning on using EXTSYNCIN1, via GPIO78, as the source and I want to have EPwm1 track to this signal.  Other PWM modules downstream will then be sync'd to EPwm1.

    I've implemented the following lines of code:

        InputXbarRegs.INPUT5SELECT        = 78;

        EPwm1Regs.TBCTL.bit.PHSEN       = TB_ENABLE;

    but so far my PWM doesn't track in frequency to the signal.  Is there something I'm supposed to do to map the input signal to EXTSYNCIN1, then EXTSYNCIN1 to EPwm1?

    Thanks.

  • Hi andrew,

    Sorry, I missed your reply. Yes, you do need to select external GPIO as the source of EXTSYNCIN1 using EPWMSYNCINSEL. For EPWM 1 this should be enough. If you would like to sync other EPWM modules with EPWM 1, please refer to the some reference design in Digital power SDK, for example, TIDM-1000.

    Let me know if you still has any questions.

    Regards,

    Chen
