I need to be able to calculate the CRC for my flash sectors before sending them to the device. I would prefer to use the STL version of the CRC. Do you have any tools that calculate the STL CRC from a .out or .hex file? If not, do you have the specific implementation used for the c28 family so that I can create a utility to do this?

The C2000 linker supports CRC computation. You can refer to Section 8.9 of spru513s.

The C2000Ware VCU examples (\libraries\dsp\VCU\c28\examples\crc) compute CRC using the VCU module, the linker based approach, as well as a C based look up table approach, and compare them all for validation purposes. This could be a good resource for you.

I also spoke with the developer of the STL, and she said the CRC on the STL is very similar to (and based on) the CRC computation using the VCU.

You should be able to easily modify the STL to incorporate the linker based CRC approach, using the C2000Ware VCU example as reference.

As far as I know, there is no method to compute a CRC from a .out or .hex.

Hi Nicholas,

I ran into a similar issue on a project. The solution I came up with was to run the STL version of the CRC on the microcontroller and download the results using the Debug Server Scripting utilities. Once downloaded I reinjected the computed CRC back into the source code and rebuilt the .out and .hex files. This was accomplished with a few post-build scripts.

Unfortunately, TI does not release the polynomial for the PSA as noted in this thread:
