CCS/TMS320F28377S: Using encoder with DSP

Part Number: TMS320F28377S

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Is there any difference between A,B,Z signals of some encoders with A,B,N signals of some other encoders. Do both Z and N refer to index signals?

I am using Baumer electric BDW 16.05A2000 encoder, which gives A,B, and N signals.

I am not able to get the datasheet of this encoder.

  • Shyam,

The N is probably the index signal.  Have you tried contacting Baumer about this however?  How are you even able to connect up to the connector without the pinout diagram?

You can also hook up A, B, and N to a scope and spin the encoder.  If N is the index, it will pulse once per rotation.

    Regards,

    David

  • The different signals are listed in the casing of the encoder, that helps in the connection. I have seen A and B as quadrature signals in the scope, but N signal is not one per revolution.

I requested baumer for the datasheet, though no response till now.

    Thanks
