TMS320F28034: SCI transmission time double after surge test

Part Number: TMS320F28034

Hi Expert,

There is a sci issue, that the SCI transmission time is twice long range comparing with normal condition. Below content contains the issue details

  • The SCI module is used to connect internal and external for communication
  • Test condition: SCI issue occurs when 4000V surge voltage testing
  • Now only find SCI module behaviors is abnormal

Is this because internal crystal configuration is incorrect?

Could you give suggestions to debug this issue or do you need any other information? Thanks!

The figure of abnormal condition, the range between X1 and X2 is 6.66ms.(blue line: RXD, yellow line: TXD)

The figure of normal condition, the range between X1 and X2 is 3.32ms. (blue line: RXD, yellow line: TXD)

  • Rayna,

It's interesting that you are experiencing a change of exactly divide-by-two.  What are you using for a clock source and is that being affected?  This might likely be the culprit for this frequency shift.  Please verify the BRR register and the clock dividers are loaded with the values expected.  It could be some “recovery” routine that you are running might be misconfiguring the clock divider during a surge event.

I hope this helps. If this answers your question, please click the green "Verified Answer" button. Thanks.

  • Hi Ken,

    Thanks for your support.

Customer adjusted the hardware around C2000 and solved this issue finally.

    Best Regards
