TMS320F280049: Programmable gain amplifier

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Dear madam/sir,

I would like to use the programmable gain amplifiers of the TMS320F280049C as a unity gain buffer. Is it possible to achieve this with one of the following options?

Float the PGA-GND pin

Connect the PGA-GND pin with the PGA-IN pin

Best wishes,

Rogier van den Berg

  • Hi Rogier,

The PGA on the F28004x device does not support unity gain mode as  you are already aware. Anything you try to do to get it to be unity gain will violate the datasheet requirements and the PGA performance characteristics we specify will no longer hold. For instance, the PGA_GND pin is required to be terminated to ground that can vary from -50mV to 200mV.

With that disclaimer out of the way, we haven't done what you are trying to do but from a purely theoretical point of view, option1 seems possible. Even if it works, the PGA will most likely be unstable. Again, i don't recommend you do this but there is of course nothing preventing you from trying it. Best of luck.
