TIDM-1000: Current sensing circuit

Hi Experts,

I am evaluating TIDM-1000 reference design and trying to understand the working principle. I found the circuit TI provided had two input AC current sensing circuits for each phase. One is using the HALL sensor LTSR 6-NP and the other is using 20mΩ shunt resistors. For current sensing function, I think one of them is enough. I wonder If I am missing something. Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

We implemented two sensing methods for current sensing. The 20mΩ shunt resistors are used for SDFM and LTSR 6-NP is used for ADC sensing. The default setting in the code is ADC.

Thanks for your quick response. I got it.

By the way, I do not see any pre-charge circuit like a relay and a resistor in TIDM-1000 circuit, do you think it is necessary to add them so that we can decrease the

inrush current to the DC bus capacitor when power on? Thanks.

Hi,

We actually have RT1/2/3 in the circuit which is the inrush current limiter.
