TMDSCNCD28388D: Access to EMIF1 Interface

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28388D

Hello,

for development purpose we purchased the TMDSCNCD28388D control card with the new F28388D µC. We want to use that card with an older baseboard that we developed for an older ControlCard with F28377D µC. The baseboard contains external memory which should be accessed by the EMIF1 interface. Unfortunately some signals on the board edge connector of the new ControlCard have changed, therefore some signals of the address- and data bus are not accessible. For instance, address signal A11 is only available on package pin R19 but this pin is not accessible via the board edge connector of the card. What can I do to get the external memory work?

Thanks in advance for help,

Christoph

  • Hi Chris,

We will have our controlCARD expert look into this and get back to you soon.

  • Christoph,

on this device we prioritized bringing out our standard analog, control, communication signals, AND on top of that we decided to show off Ethernet and EtherCAT. With all of these requirements EMIF1, in its full configuration, was difficult to meet.

EMIF1 should still be usable in its reduced 8-bit data width configuration. Please note that EMIF is not defined in the controlCARD standard, and therefore we look at having backwards compatibility, of the EMIF, as "nice-to-have". We do everything we can to keep things consistent from design to design, but with the new requirements set in place by Ethernet and EtherCAT this was not possible.

Please let me know if you need help with your pinout definition, but a few pins of EMIF1 are not available.

    Regards,
    Cody
