CCS/TMS320F2808: TMS320F2808

Part Number: TMS320F2808
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F280049C

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi TI E2E Support : I had bought the TMDSDCDC2KIT that is a Digital Power experimenters kit with the F2808 control card ( edge card connector type) . The part # of this kit is TMDSDCDC2KIT. It is a 2 rail DC/DC EVM using TI Power train modules (10A) . But I cannot find the software package that came with this kit. Maybe it was meant to be downloaded and I may have downloaded on my desktop that dies sometime ago. Can you please help me with the Software package that has the example code  and the rest of the documents such as Schematics etc . Also it has a JTAG port. What TI programmer/debugger I need to buy to modify the code if I want to?

  • Hi Rohit,

First, I'll say that this is a kit that was created maybe 10 years ago.  There are now better tools & C2000 devices available for this type of application.

For example, the BOOSTXL-BUCKCOV with the F280049C LaunchPad.  The F280049C will be more powerful than the older F2808 & provides high value for its cost.  Note that with this combination you would not need an debug probe as the LaunchPad has one on board.

I personally would recommend starting here.

That being said I can sympathize with trying to use equipment that you already have.  For the software/hardware, you'll need to download/install SPRC675 & SPRC676.  Note that because of this kits' age & obsolescence, we won't be able to provide very specific support on this.

It is correct that you'd need a JTAG debug probe, when using this kit.  An xds110 (or xds100v2) would likely be a good choice.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett:

Thank you very much for your kind support in this matter. I really appreciate this gesture.

I will try to use the hardware and try to learn from the files that you have sent me. I  am very  tempted to buy the  BOOSTXL-BUCKCOV with the F280049C LaunchPad instead of buying the JTAG Probe (XDS110).  Does TI provide any discount coupons for existing customers that I can use? If so please let me know. That may flip me over.

    Best regards,

    Prasad

  • Hi Prasad,

No, I'm not aware.  We do promotions on occasion, but I'm not aware of any at this time.

Note that buying an xds110 can be re-used once/if you design your own board.  It's also possible to use the LAUNCHXL-F280049C as a debug probe for your later design too, but you would need to create your own custom wiring harness from the LaunchPad to your board - so it's a bit more work.

Maybe or maybe that won't help you in your decision.

    Thank you,
    Brett
