F28M35H52C: 1.8V & 1.2V Rail Design Support

Part Number: F28M35H52C

Hi Team,

Looking for support on the F28M35H52C1.

We have configured the microcontroller to use the internal references for these, since we have pulled the enable pins VREG18EN and VREG12EN low.  On the microcontroller there are 2 pins for the 1.8Vref and 8 pins for the 1.2Vref.  On the schematics for the F28M35H52C1 microcontroller based controlCARD the 2 pins for the 1.8vref are tied together and 8 pins of the 1.2Vref are tied together.  To my understanding this is done so there is the potential to supply an external supply for these voltage references on the evaluation board.  If we are only using the internal reference, as we are I believe we do not need to tie this pins together and can just place the recommended capacitance on each pin separately.  This will allow us to eliminate the need to route these pins together on a PCB since they are already tied together internally.  I want to check that this is ok and if there is a reason why we should tie them together externally on our PCB.  From reading the documentation it is my understanding that this should be ok but I am not sure if there might be some issue when implemented.

Regards,

Ramon

  • Ramon,

The pins are internally connected, however we still require all supply pins to be tied together. There are many conditions which are difficult to predict and ensuring that there is a good solid external connection with decoupling capacitors near each pin help eliminate potential problems.
