TMS320F280049: ADC Total Unadjusted Error

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hi C2000 Team,

Do we have TUE (total unadjusted error) information on the F28004x ADC?

Reference here: https://e2e.ti.com/blogs_/archives/b/precisionhub/archive/2014/10/14/adc-accuracy-part-2-total-unadjusted-error-explained

The datasheet does not contain sufficient information to calculate as offset, gain, and INL are worst-case across the entire operating range.  They probably are not worst-case at the same operating point.

We may not have this information, but just asking!

Regards,

David

  • Hi David,

We typically estimate this using the RSS method with INL, DNL, Gain, and Offset errors.  This would be an exact (at least in the statistical sense) estimate if all the error was due to random variation.  Because the errors could be due to non-random variation (e.g. temperature coefficient) or the errors could be correlated with each other, the estimate could systematically over-or-under estimate the TUE.

Because the min/max of the various parameters are already reasonably conservative, using the RSS method should still give a pretty reasonable worst-case estimate.

There is a more in depth discussion of achievable TUE (assuming RSS method) here:
