TMS320F280049: Data retention duration at TJ = 125C

I am asking this for our customers.

In Table 5-25. Flash Parameters of the data sheet, it shows:

Data retention duration at TJ = 85oC is 20 year (MIN).

Do we have the data retention duration at Tj=125C or Ta=125C, for automotive grade F28004xQ?

  • Wayne: We do have internal data for actual lifetime projections at higher temperature but it will require an NDA to share. 

    Automotive applications typically have a mission profiles that documents the temperature and how long it spends at that temperature bracket. The mission profile would split out an active (power on) as well as a passive (power off) conditions where both combined data retention assessment as that is thermally activated. A passenger vehicle would be driving for ~10% of it's time which in 15 years service life is 12,000 Power on hours. 90% would be powered off.

    It is normal to see the Power on time around @ Tj max to be 1 to 10% of that active portion of the mission profile which is a few thousand hours @ Tj max. During power off, the device is at lower temperatures due to no self heating and eventually Ta = Tj as it cools down.

    An average 55C over 15 year service life is what we have seen to be a conservative estimate of combined on/off thermal profile so the condition we specify in the datasheet exceeds that automotive profile.
