DCSM - Password Lock

Hello,

I am reviewing the Password Lock capability of DCSM.  Is it true, that until Password Lock is enable, anyone could connect a JTAG to the target, and read the password values?  So they could unlock the device and have free access.  Without Password Lock, it is almost like there is no code security at all?

Regards,

Robert

  • Robert,

Is it true, that until Password Lock is enable, anyone could connect a JTAG to the target, and read the password values?  So they could unlock the device and have free access.  Without Password Lock, it is almost like there is no code security at all?

That is correct. User have to enable password lock to secure the zone.

  • Just to clarify further, even though PSWDLOCK is disabled (not programmed) zone will be secure for user development. This feature was added so that during development if user by mistake programs wrong passwords then they can read the password and use it to unlock to recover else they have to change the device on board. But after development user must enable the JTAGLOCK so that no one can read the password.

    Hope this is clear.

  • Yes, clears, thanks.
