TMS320F28335: SD flash, Serial flashing, device reset

I am working on serial flashing on 28835 custom board.

I am using SD flash software for serial flashing.

All the settings related to SD flash has been set as per " TMS320F28xx SDFlash Serial RS232 Flash Programming Reference Guide".

boot mode selection in my custom board is set as per SCI boot mode selection pins.

the problem is, when i press reset button in SD flash tool, i am getting following message

MSG: Interface version 1
MSG: Unloading driver
MSG: Reloading driver
MSG: User must now get target to bootload state
MSG: Interface version 1

After this, even we tried to reset the dsp manually. even after it is showing same message.

if we try to flash, it says following message

ERR: Failed connection to the target

So guys, what might be the problem.

how can i reset the device.

I am using Moxa UPORT 1110 (RS232 to USB converter) to connect PC to the device.

The device is configured in SCI-Boot mode.

I am able to erase/program flash on this device using CCS. I had programmed the flash on this device many times using CCS successfully.

It is my custom board. I am able to execute SCI echoback example successfully on this board when not using SDFlash.

SCI-A boot loader uses SCIRXDA on GPIO28 and SCITXDA on GPIO29.

The clock value provided to the MCU is 30 MHz as required by SDFlash.

but still i am not able to get any specific reason why the serial flashing is not working.

Madhu,

Can you confirm whether the device is in erased state or not before you try to use the SDFlash?

Vamsi,

The device is not in the erased state.

Even i flashed using JTAG once to confirm whether DSC is in good condition.

I have doubt. is there any particular way to get device in SCI-A boot mode state for serial flashing.

I did as boot mode table, as 1110 for SCI boot mode.

The device didn't connected by using SD FLASH.

So, When i powered on, initially I selected BOOT MODE as JUMP TO FLASH.

After few seconds, I changed BOOT MODE as SCI-A boot following with Hardware Reset.

So after that, in SD Flash showed message like DEVICE IS CONNECTED.

I continued to Flash.

But it remained in the state of ERASE continuously.....

While I checked UPORT MOXA 1110 for verifying TXD and RXD.( Nothing is blinking which indicates no communication )

So, i forcefully cancelled the whole operation during ERASING state.

I removed all things, checked DSC. The DSC working properly with old code.

ERASING OPERATION didnt happen.

TOGGLE TEST was perfect...

Madhu,

That is the way to get the device in to SCI boot mode.

Is existing application in Flash driving those pins? Please erase the flash using CCS and then try to connect to SDFlash and see if that helps.
