Motor stator inductance and resistance

In the HVPM_Sensorless-Settings.h file I need to enter my motor stator resistance and inductance.  Are these values to be measured phase to phase or just per phase.  Also, is the stator inductance to be measured with or without the rotor installed?

  • In most cases these values are for phase only not phase to phase. The stator values can be measured with your rotor installed but in an ideal situation the stator values should be without rotor. Having said this .. all the online algorithms measure stator values with rotor in place.

  • Thanks Arefeen.  I used per phase values with the rotor in place.  I have values for the rotor not in place.  Should I use those?  Also, what do you mean by "online algorithms"?

  • I think you should use the value with rotor in place ...well, once you have the system in place then you can try both ...by the way, how much difference percentage wise are you getting between those two readings? Online means the drive will automatically measure and tune itself for sensorless operation ...the common term for this is "auto tune" .
