CCS / TMS320F28388D:F28388d evaluation board debugging error, I want to ask a question, thanks

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, TPS62420, UNIFLASH, TMDSCNCD28388D

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Recently, the evaluation board of f28388d uses the xds100v2 simulator provided by the evaluation panel. The S1: A and S2 of the panel are set according to the requirements of the specification. The new project is shown in the following figure:

After that, the following errors occurred in the target configurations test:

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -F inform,logfile=yes -S pathlength -S integrity

What's the reason for this, can you help me?Thanks

If you have a debugging f28388 routine, can you provide me with one? Thank you very much!

  • Hi,

Can you check your switch setting and JTAG connectivity as par User's Guide, section 4.1

    TMS320F28388D controlCARD User's Guide

Also, please use the link below to debug the JTAG connectivity issue.

    software-dl.ti.com/.../ccs_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html

If you have downloaded C2000ware SDK, it will be better to get started with C2000ware DriverLib example.

  • Thank you for your reply!
I tested the power module tps62420 of the evaluation board, and found that the voltage at 1.2V output was not correct, only 0V. Could you tell me which peripheral circuits of the power chip were damaged, or whether the board used the voltage of 1.2V, and what maintenance should I do. In addition, I found that there are some inconsistencies between my board and the PCB of the given information.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Best wishes

  • I tested one by one according to the test points on the evaluation board, and found that TP1: A, TP2: a were 0V, TP2 was 0V, tp9 was 0V. There were problems with these test points. After that, I tested the power chip tps62420 on the board, and found that there was a problem with the 1.2V output of the chip, which was only 0V. Can I apply for return of the board?

  • Hi,

I am checking with board designer to assist in debugging the issue.

  • OK, thank you very much
Looking forward to hearing from you!
    Best wishs to you!

  • Hello,

your issue is likely that you did not plug in the controlCARD correctly. Please note that the emulator and C2000 device are isolated and do not share a power domain.

The error you are receiving is consistent with not powering the C2000 chip. The fact that you are seeing 0V at the output of the TPS device could suggest this as well.

Please send me a photo of your board setup with the cabling connected. The easiest was to provide power to the C2000 device is through the docking station as described in the post above.

    Regards,
    Cody

  • According to your request, this is the power supply method of my board

  • After I flashed the program, there would still be an appeal error
I also tried to supply power to the board and substrate at the same time, but the above error still appears。

  • Were you able to successfully flash a program on to the device? If so this means its probably not a power issue.

Can you please confirm what voltage you see at:

    • TP7
    • TP8
    • TP9
    • TP10

Do you have a micro USB cable? If so, please disconnect the USB cable from the docking station and connect a cable to J3 of the controlCARD. This is an alternative way of providing power to the device.

Does it work? If not what voltages do you see at test points 7-,8,9 and 10 using this cable?

    Regards,
    Cody

  • I used a micro USB cable to power the board

    Then I tested the voltage of TP7, TP8, TP9 and TP10
TP7:It is a charging process, and the maximum voltage can be charged to 1.7V
    TP8:3.33V

    TP9:0.021V

    TP10:0V
Besides, you said that flash a program on to the device  means using uniflash?I tried it, and the results are as follows

  • Thank you very much, best wishes and look forward to your reply

    1. How long have you been using this board? Have you had it working previously?
    2. You mentioned that you found some inconsistencies with the board and the documentation, What were the inconsistencies?
    3. My question in regards to you flashing the device was because you said: "

      1. Were you previously able to flash the device?
      2. I would typically use the embedded flash programmer in CCS, however the uniflash tool is fine for checking if you can flash the device.

  • Thank you for your reply!
I bought this board on August 20 with the order number of t000895293. After I bought it, I couldn't write the program. Then I consulted the technical personnel on E2E forum and tried to burn the program according to their suggestions, but none of them succeeded. After that, I checked the board according to the schematic diagram and PCB, and found the problem of my premise. Can I apply for replacement of this board?

Looking forword to hearing from you

  • Yes,this is approved for return.

Please file a return request on the TMDSCNCD28388D. When submitting the request please provide a link to this post.
