TMS320F28388D: Can FSI work without RX / TX handshaking?

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Hi,

In reading the FSI description the RX and TX blocks look completely separated in hardware and software. However, there is much literature on handshaking between RX and TX signal paths. If I have an application where the device is only receiving data, is it required that a transmit interface also be present to allow the receive interface to work?

If single direction / half duplex is supported are there any dangers or draw backs to this mode?
