TMS320F28375D: TMS320F28375D hold CPU2 in reset

Hello,

I am working on the TMS320F28375D. I have done some searching on the forums here and have looked in the data sheet but couldn't find a clear answer.

I am trying to figure out how to hold the second core on this processor in reset. I currently have a system configured with a core 1 and core 2 and both are running but for specific reason I need to be able to dynamically hold the core 2 in reset.

I did find some information on the data sheet which lead me believe I probably need to use the IpcRegs.IPCBOOTMODE but I'm not sure because it doesn't have any information on the bits of this register. It just says 'This register is used by CPU1 to pass a boot mode information to CPU2".

If anyone can point me to where to look, that would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

CPU1 application code can reset the CPU2 by writing '1' into RESET bit of CPU2RESCTL register. Please refer "CPU2RESCTL Register" section in device TRM for more detail on how to update this register.

Thank you for the response Vivek.

I tried the CPU2RESCTL register as you had suggested. On CPU1 I had accessed the RESET bit on the CPU2RESCTL register through the DevCfgRegs register that was available in the F2837xD_sysctrl.h header file. Simply like this:

DevCfgRegs.CPU2RESCTL.bit.RESET = 0x01;

However this is not holding the CPU2 in reset because I can see the CPU2 still running.

Is there anything additional that I needed to do for it to be held in reset?

Update on this:

I was able to get the CPU2 to be held in reset. I had to do this, also entering the KEY:

DevCfgRegs.CPU2RESCTL.all = 0xa5a50001;

Currently my issue is I can't release it from reset....

I have tried DevCfgRegs.CPU2RESCTL.all = 0xa5a50000;

But still CPU2 is stuck in reset.

Please make sure you are using EALLOW before updating this register.

Hi Vivek,

I am using EALLOW before and EDIS after.

After getting the CPU2 to be held in reset, it's unable to go back into running.

Hi Vivek,

Any way to get the CPU2 back into running?

Got CPU2 to be held in reset by CPU1. I have tried writing 0 to CPU2RESCTL register to release it from reset but CPU2 won't run. I am thinking something must be missing to kick start the CPU2?

Hi Raymond,

How do you CPU2 is still stuck in reset ? After reset is released CPU2 need to be booted via IPC boot command from CPU1. Are you doing that ?
