CCS/TMS320F280049C: Is there a way to see function and interrupt calls over time

Part Number: TMS320F280049C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

On the MSP430 I can see the call of functions and modules in energy Trace+. I would like to get something similar for the C2000 to see how my functions and interrupts get called so I can better see where to squeeze some additional stuff into. I could do it on paper and calculate everything but I would prefer to be able to see the system behavior on the real system.

I don't need to get it in real time. I would not mind running an analysis over a second and then get an output that says "Interrupt1 was called at 1.54 microseconds and ran 3 microseconds"...something like that.

I am currently not running the TI RTOS so the RTOS analysis functions don't work for me.

Thanks

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

In C2000ware DriverLib example, there are some examples on profiling. One of them is "Profiling Interrupt". Please take a look.

    C:/ti/c2000/C2000Ware_3_02_00_00/driverlib/f28004x/examples/erad/profile_interrupts

  • Thank you but this is not really what I was looking for.

The ERAD module as used in those examples requires preconfiguration of HW break points and counters. I have 10 interrupts and 4 states with different durations and different interrupt calls. If I wanted to analyze them this way in all system states I would need forever.

Just to determine the position and duration of each interrupt would require to run the program with a different ERAD configuration in each state for each interrupt. And even then I would not see if two interrupts switch places due to the change in a variable or external input. I have actually already done this using a pwm counter (reset counter at state machine start, get counter value at interrupt start, reset the counter at the beginning of each interrupt, get counter value at the end). But I had hoped there was an easier way.

I was looking for something like this:

Just with functions instead of peripherals.

  • Peter,

You will need TI RTOS to get the execution graph.  I do not think there is  have any other tools which will allow something like above.
