TMS320F28035: HVACI_Scalar Sensorless

Hi,

I am working in a project for a water pump control, which uses ACIM motor, based on the F280xx family. I have on hands both the F28069M and F28035 cards.

At first, my goal was to use Sensorless FOC, but the requirement of locking rotor during the calibration process was a huge drawback (imagine doing this to a 25HP motor). So I decided to go on step back and use the simpler V/F control, which doesn't require calibration.

Looking into the HVACI_Scalar example, I noticed that it uses a feedback encoder, and my need is for a sensorless control. So the questions are: Is there any example of Scalar sensorless control for any of my devices? Or, what would be even better, is ther any way to perform FOC calibration whithout locking the rotor?

With Sensorless FOC, if you know the motor parameters already, you can use them directly rather than stepping through calibration. You may tweak the code to fit your requirements.

Would help if you familiarize yourself with the concept of FOC and what is involved.

Hi Ramesh, thanks for your response. I am no motor control expert, but kwow the basics of FOC. Also, I'm aware that I could just simply hard code the motor parameters into the firmware, once they are known. The problem is that my inverter will operate with unknown motors, from different models and makers. Also, they don't supply all the parameters needed by controller on the datasheet, hence the need for calibration.

Locking the rotor is part of calibration to get certain motor parameters. If you cant preload the parameters and will use various motors, then calibration seem to be necessary.
