I would suggest using the latest version of CCS and our updated software package, C2000Ware. 

Did you configure the terminal for a 9600 baudrate?

Yes all the configuration are as required.

I am required to use SCI communication for my project. While trying to run the Example from both ControlSuite and C2000ware i received the same issue.

To be more broad the program gets uploaded properly as i tried PWM and some other programs. When i am uploading SCI_echoback code and then start the terminal in CCS or hyperterminal software for communication, Both gets connected with the controller but no output is there on the screen neither does it take any inputs.

Thank you for explaining further. I have a few questions to help narrow down where the issue might be.

Have you modified the example in any way? Did you change the system frequency?

Did you make sure to connect to the correct port? You can check which port is the correct one through Device Manager under 'Ports (COM & LPT)' after connecting the device to your PC.

No, I Haven't modified the code as the example program is giving me issue thus decided not to make any changes to it.

Yes the device is connected to proper port which I am using in terminal, I tried starting the terminal on wrong port details,

as expected it directly show closed(Cannot connect to device). When i put proper configuration on Terminal then only it shows connected to device.

Thank you for confirming that. If you open the 'SCI_96.ht' file within the project is there any content?

Would you mind describing what hardware you have please? Are you using a launchpad and connecting to it via usb or do you have your own custom board?

I am using C2000 TMS320F28027 Launch Pad, and connecting to it using USB port on the board.

Yes there is some data in the SCI_96.ht file. But the language could not be read using both notepad or document.

The following data is present in it:

Hi Abhishek,

If you are using the launchpad, one thing that could cause you to not be able to interact with the terminal is having the S4 switch on the launchpad in the down position. 

Therefore, ensure that S4 is in the UP position to enable the USB<->UART channel.

If the switch S4 & S1 is not in correct position for UART one could not even load program to the controller.

The example should be working if you have not changed any of the settings and have the correct configuration for the terminal.

Just as a sanity check, here are the configurations I have for the terminal (Your COM port value might be different)

This should already be part of the example but just to make sure nothing got modified by accident would you please verify the following: 

1) InitSciaGpio() configures GPIOs 28 and 29

2) Within scia_echoback_init() the following registers are configured in this manner:

SciaRegs.SCIHBAUD = 0x0000;  // 9600 baud @LSPCLK = 15MHz(60 MHz SYSCLK)
SciaRegs.SCILBAUD = 0x00C2;

If all of the above is correct and you have access to an oscilloscope would you please check the baud rate? Try continuously transmitting something and probing the SCITXDA pin for this measurement.

Sorry for the delayed response. Website was asking me to put company email address because of which it took sometime for me. We are using the program fro examples it self thus the values are same as you have shown.

Due to the pandemic situation we do not have access to oscilloscope it will be difficult Is there any other option.

Hi Abhishek,

After looking at your contents for SCI_96.ht file more closely I believe that you may be trying to connect to your printer (HP LaserJet). Could you please disconnect all devices from your PC (even the C2000 device), then connect the C2000 device only and notice the COM port for it. After doing so, please try to run the example once again.

Have already tried to run the code after disconnecting all the devices from the computer (physically).

Thank you for providing the information requested. Have you tried to use PuTTY (ensure your configuration matches the one below):

Also, have you tried to run the scia_loopback example to make sure the SCI module is working as expected?

Another thing that could help us troubleshoot is running the example below which also uses the terminal (note this example uses a baud rate of 115200):

the GUI is not able to connect with the controller. Producing error : "Ensure SCI Boot jumper is placed or the target is flashed".

Can you please let me know what GUI you are referring to? If possible can I please also see a picture of your hardware (what jumpers and switch settings you currently have)?
