CCS/TMS320F280041: Flash reading in run time

Hello Sir,

I am using TMS320F280041 controller in my project. I want to use internal flash memory for power on calibration purpose.

I have erased and write flash sector also but i am not able read flash in power on of MCU.

I did not find any reference code or library for that.

Please suggest me how to read flash memory at power on MCU.

I have one more issue is TMS320F280041 controller have one flash bank but i am not able to access flash sector above sector 7.

Bharat,

When you say you are not able to read flash upon power up, do you mean that from CPU reads or from memory window in CCS?

Regarding the full bank not visible in memory window: Which CCS version are you using? There was a bug in the previous gel files. But, the latest CCSV10.x should not have that issue. Please try the latest CCS.

Bharat,

Did you try to read the flash after the system initialization (Clock, PLL, flash wait-states etc.)? What happens when you say CPU is not able to read the flash? Please provide more info - is flash returning back all 0s?

Bharat,

There is no any special function required to read the flash. CPU can read the flash in the same way as it reads the RAM.

Hello,

I want to read flash in at the start of c code in flash.

I can erase the flash by Fapi_issueAsyncCommandWithAddress(Fapi_EraseSector, (uint32 *)0x087000); function of flash api.

I can write the flash by Fapi_issueProgrammingCommand((uint32 *)u32Index, au16DataBuffer, 8,0, 0, Fapi_DataOnly); function of flash api.

is there any similar function like above to read flash address and store data in data buffer.

fapi_domarginread (); is there but it is not supported in 280041 controller.

Please suggest any alternative for this.

Bharat,

As I mentioned earlier, you can code flash reads just like how you do RAM reads. Hence, the function is removed from the flash API as customers are not using it.

Did you face any issues in implementing flash reads?
