Hi Team,
Good day. We received query from customer asking for information regarding CANA, CANB and MCAN on the F28388D chip. For me to not miss any information from the customer, I will copy the query below.
"I need to use two CAN buses on my circuit board. At the same time, there are CANA, CANB and MCAN on the F28388D chip. The CANA and CANB pins are multiplexed with EMIF and other pins. Now there is a situation where CAN and EMIF need to be used on the circuit board at the same time. What should I do?"
Thank you and looking forward to your kind response.
Regards,
Maynard
Hi Maynard,
Please advise customer to use GPIO mux positions for CAN that do not use EMIF signals. EMIF signals probably need to be connected at all times and CAN RX/TX pins have to be connected at all times to the transceiver in the end application so CAN and EMIF cannot share the same lines in the application. There are mux positions on lower GPIO channels (GPIO17 down to GPIO1 for instance) where the customer can assign CANRX/TX or MCANRX/TX that are not allocated to EMIF so those GPIO channels can be the mux options for CAN/MCAN.
Regards,
Joseph
Please encourage customer to look into the PinMux and SysConfig tools:
