TMS320F28069: Bootloader

Part Number: TMS320F28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Hi,

I want to write my own bootloader for TMS320F28069, I have few question about it

  1. is it even possible ?
  2. will my custom bootloader replace the manufacturer pre-flashed bootloader inside the bootrom ?
  3. how can I flash my custom bootloader to the target ?

Thanks

Najeeb

  • Hello!

    1. Yes, of coarse. I did it.

    2. No, it's not replace bootrom. It will be placed into one of flash sectors.

    3. Same way as any other firmware.

You can open examples: C2000Ware_3_02_00_00\device_support\f2806x\MWare\boot_loader and C2000Ware_3_02_00_00\device_support\f2806x\examples\c28\bl_app

  • Hi,

Thanks for response, Actually I am trying to update firmware through sci. I know this feature is already present in the default bootloader but that requires certain pins to be set and that requires hardware involvement. I want to trigger SCI_boot() from software and I did exactly that i.e location sci_boot() function of the default bootloader and jumped to that but the kernel would load successfully but the application load would fail.

Later on left that approach and started working on to create my own bootloader, added the source of default bootloader (with some changes) to my project and placed that into the flash location. Here is my cmd file:

when i single step through code it works fine and reaches the auto baud portion, but when I run the code, it jumps to the waitboot function of the default bootloader, can't figure out why. Please let me know if anyone can help.
