TMS320F280048: PLL May Not Lock on the First Lock Attempt errata

Part Number: TMS320F280048

C2000 Team,

In the F28004x errata SPRZ439F, there is an advisory "PLL May Not Lock on the First Lock Attempt."  Do we have any additional information on occurrence rate and  occurrence conditions (e.g., supply voltage slew rate, temperature, etc.)?  Any other information on this errata not already in the errata sheet?

Another question on this: since the watchdog timer is clocked directly from INTOSC1, is it correct that if the PLL fails to start the WD will still be running (assuming software hasn't disabled it) and will reset the device?

Thank you,

David

  • David,

The occurrence rate is very low, so much so that it is not really quantifiable.  The mitigation recommended further reduces the rate of occurrence.  When the mitigation code is implemented in customer systems, I have not heard any reports of this issue.

You are correct, the WD does not depend on the PLL and will continue to run and will reset the device if the PLL fails to start.

    Best regards,

    Jason
