TMS320F2812: TMS320F2812

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Hello,

While trying to flash code with code composer studio to dsp TMS320F2812 using emulator XDS510USB Spectrum digital, during flashing an error occured flash operation timed out. After this error I cannot load the progaram. It is showing device is locked. How to unlock device once it gets locked?

  • Vishnu,

Thanks for reaching out to the E2E forum.  I would try to do a read of the password locations to see if the device unlocks.  Even if the password is erased, you will still need to do this read to unlock the device.

If the device remains locked, it is likely that there is a non- 0xFFFF value in the CSM location.  This could have been caused by the same mechanism that caused the flash programmation to time out.  If the flash program process(erase or program) is interrupted then the flash contents can get in an undefined state.  If this occures to the location containing the CSM passwords, the device will be locked permanently since the password is unknown.

Have you encountered this issue before on other F281x, or is this the first time this has happened?  Based on the use case I can provide some ideas on what may have occurred to induce this issue.

    Best,

    Matthew

  • Sir,

    Thank you for your reply.

This is the first time  an issue occured with F2812. Please check the attached image  of CSM memory location

  • Vishnu,

In this case the device is locked un-intentionally like for the reasons I mentioned.  I would make sure that the XRSn line cannot be disturbed during the flash operations and that you have plenty of source current available from your LDO for the F281x.  This should be fine so long as you are meeting the operational current max's in the datasheet.

In terms of next steps, the only recourse here is to replace the F281x with a fresh device that is unlocked.  We do not have a mechanism that lets us unlock devices even if it is un-intentional.

    Best,
    Matthew
