TMS320F28388D: Why MAC address is not provided with Silicon?

Hello,

We are exploring TMS320F28388D, we have development kit for same which provides communication functionality like Ethernet and Ethercat and also MAC address for same. But why MAC address is not provided along with the silicon for such high end DSP?

Hi,

MAC address need to be set by user right? May be I am not understanding your query. Can you provide some more detail ? I am also looking our Ethernet expert to look into this.

Why in-built MAC address is not provided along with high end DSP for such as TMS320F28388? Why user need to put extra effort in getting and setting MAC address?

Hi,

Historically the MAC addresses had an organizationally unique identifiers which is part of the MAC address. So with the current scheme, the customers can program their organizationally unique identifier based MAC Address in the User OTP region and use it.
