Hi,
my customer is using TMS320F28075PTPT, the highest operating junction temperature is 105C.
Since it's impossible to measure junction temperature.
They use a thermocouple to measure the IC's top case temperature and the highest temperature they measured is 94C.
How could we know if it's okay to use the device in such a temperature?
Howard,
The customer should be able to calculate the expected Junction Temp using the thermal data in the datasheet combined with the operating current they observe in their system. This application note describes how to use these two data points to derive the Tj: Semiconductor and IC Package Thermal Metrics .
Let me know if there are additional questions on this calculation.
Best,
Matthew
