TMS320F28379D: Object code security in C2K products

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Folks,

Have a question on achieving IP protection of our code running on C2K products.

Quick background/context : We are a small startup building motors and motor controllers and licensing our designs to manufacturers for various applications.

We need to protect our code from prying eyes ... But we do not manufacture the end products, the motor controllers in this case. Is there a way to safely (encrypted ?)  distribute the code to the manufacturer which he can inject into the C2K controller. Ideally we dont want the manufacturer to have access to our object code. Is there a way to achieve this ? Or am I asking for the impossible ?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

-Bhaktha

  • Hi Bhaktha,

We have a dual zone security concept which is meant for such type of usecase only. Your code can be programmed in one of the zone along with security settings so that no one has read/write access to your code until zone is unlocked using 128bit password but  far programming of the device by manufacture, that need to be worked out between you and the manufacturer. Code is protected by device once it is programmed on device along with security settings.
