My customer used PMBUS for Power management communication, and after PMBUS configured, they also want to use the same PINs(SCL/SDA) to worked as I2C peripheral, could you kindly give comments on this requirement?

Hi Benjamin,

Can you clarify--are they looking to use the PMBUS in I2C mode or are they going to switch the mux configuration for those pins from PMBUS to I2C (e.g. GPIOs 2 and 3 can be reconfigured from PMBUSA SDA and SCL to I2CB SDA and SCL)?

For PIN MUX solution, we have realized.

This requirement is PMBUS worked on I2C Mode, Could you kindly share the information for how to configure the PMBUS into I2C mode? there is a I2CMODE bit in register PMBCTRL, which should be used for I2C Mode, and my understanding is that the Slave/Master setting should be the same, and only read command/write command could be used, but in TRM, there is very little description for this work mode.

Could you kindly share more guides for PMBUS worked on I2C mode?

Below example in C2000Ware is for F28004x device. We currently don't have this example for F280025. Looking into this example should give you a good idea how to get I2C MODE to work in PMBus.

This example shows how to configure PMBus in I2CMode (Master) to talk to EEPROM.

<C2000Ware>\libraries\communications\PMBus\c28\examples\28004x_pmbus_i2c_eeprom

But did not find "28004x_pmbus_i2c_eeprom". Please check.

Could you kindly share the I2C mode example of PMBus?

Minghan,

Here is the full path for 28004x_pmbus_i2c_eeprom. I think you are searching in wrong C2000Ware holder.

C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_3_03_00_00\libraries\communications\PMBus\c28\examples\28004x_pmbus_i2c_eeprom
